While their plans to kidnap the Crown Prince had succeeded, the Lyra crew found themselves in a desperately hopeless situation on the Shackle Isles as Koben and Miras' combined forces descended upon the pirate hideout. With enemy forces closing in on all sides of the labyrinth, a certain betrayal meant that coordination within the twisted caves became near impossible. Separated from their captain and first mate and stuck at the heart of the maze near where the captive Prince and Princess had escaped, Piers and Rosie abandoned their post and the increasingly bleak situation, but not before attempting to give Aleksi a piece of their minds regarding his betrayal. (They had, after all, sheltered the traitorous sneak amongst their crew for a time.) However, their subsequent attempts to sabotage the others' escape saw both of them captured– easily identified by their captives who had long suffered under Piers' chaotic tempers and Rosie's chilly disregard.

The death penalty for the abduction of the crown prince and their involvement in his captivity was handed down swiftly. Locked up and faced with the inevitable end, the two pirates were supplied with ample days of boredom to discover that they were more similar than either had ever imagined despite having lived in close quarters for so long. It seemed that the both of them, estranged from their families in Linhythe and incapable of returning to the city they had betrayed, would take their regrets with them to the gallows.

Though privately terrified in the face of his mortality, with Rosie by his side Piers was able to make light of the situation to the end, coping with his apprehension with tasteless jokes about their predicament in between their awkward heart to hearts. Rosie on the other hand took her path's numbered steps in stride, mixed between an inherent desire to live yet gladdened to be rid of her troubles. Though finding Piers insufferable as always, a comrade in fate was a welcome burden to bear.

At last, their date with the gallows came. The remaining crew of the Lyra was by now safely leagues away in South Federation waters- while the captured prisoners looked on to a sea of unfamiliar faces awaiting the real highlight of the execution, the Marquess of Alden. But unbeknownst to either of them, standing amongst the crowd were two who had travelled far for them alone– Piers' elder brother Nahuel, and Rosie's younger half-brother Dominic.




Rhodeia Ennosid, Malik Pieter Rajani, etc., for crimes against the royal family, betraying the Koben Empire, and a general history of piracy, were sentenced to death by hanging on the 1st of Stars.
